neon indian mixtape

Some buyers of Neon Indian’s Era Extraña deluxe vinyl version received this untitled mixtape along with the PAL198X. It has no other info other than “Neon Indian Mixtape” printed on the disc itself and contains a lot of tracks that possibly inspired Alan Palomo for Era Extraña. Hear it below.

korallreven – “sa sa samoa" (feat. Julianna Barwick)

i reblogged and played the heck out of this on the tumblr and twitter sites yesterday, primarily because KORALLREVEN is one of the few new acts out this year that really gets me excited about music again.

check out their chilled-out britney rework on our end-of-summer mixtape here.

they're album will be available on november 15th, through ACEPHALE

major mazer - "original don" (dawn golden and rosy cross remix)

DAWN GOLDEN AND ROSY CROSS has really been injecting his stuff into the mainstream's listening ear as of late. his last remix for chino moreno's ††† (Crosses) project  was an excellent and epic adventure of the original.

check out more of him here and here as well.

oingo boingo - "dead man's party". originally featured in the 1986 rodney dangerfield movie back to school

excuse the video quality as it is a bit rough, but the sound is decent enough to make it enjoyable.

a quintessential, yet somewhat trite, track for the upcoming holiday.

The ChapStick Slapstick

if you haven't heard about the latest online social media debaucle, feel free to catch yourself up here:

our brief and concise opinion on the subject: consumers nowadays are fickle as, well let's just say, eff (whether they are brand-loyal or not). they are also very opinionated and will let you know how they feel on any given subject matter when given the chance, and probably moreso when not.

however, to the opposite effect, we can also heavily count on the fact that today's savvy consumers are very time-challenged and always onto "the next best thing", especially as it relates to their social media experiences.

ultimately, the one thing that ChapStick can probably look forward to, is that most of this blog-fodder will probably die down as early as tomorrow by close of business on all time zones, when everyone will be onto a more relevant weekend topic/event/"scandal" du jour.

CHARLI XCX - "Nuclear Seasons"

we posted this on our tumblr over the weekend... and since we've had it repeat since then, we thought it'd be a shame to not post it on the main site as well.

CHARLI XCX is coming off a little marina-and-the-diamondsish on this track, but whatevs - this is perfect for those autumn playlists.

Charli XCX, "Nuclear Seasons" by The FADER

gorillavsbear.net says "Maybe the most massive / anthemic (and probably best) pop jam of 2011 since her last amazing single. London teenager and self-described “goth-pop” starlet Charli XCX says of this one:
“Nuclear seasons is about a sense of decay. Whether it be the decaying of love, the decaying of life or the decaying of a period of time. Its about being lost and frozen and surviving. Its about being on your own and feeling magic alive when you come through the other side”

New Look - "Nap on a Bow" (video)

it seems all we've been doing for the last week is daydreaming to NEW LOOK tracks... so how fitting is it that they release their video for "Nap on a Bow" a couple of days ago?

"New Look: The Ballad" directed by Will Davidson from SWELL on Vimeo.

release from their distributor's (K7) newsletter, which i think describes it to a "t"...

Future pop duo New Look release their self titled debut album featuring singles "The Ballad" and "Nap On The Bow". Recorded over the past three years, across the creative trinity of Berlin, Brooklyn and the sleepy hollow town of Hamilton, near Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, New Look's self-titled debut album is a feverishly anticipated affair. The Canadian future pop duo and real life couple, Sarah Ruba and Adam Pavao have an undeniable creative synergy, combining the stunning, synth-playing chanteuse and former model, 25-year-old Ruba (previously shot by the likes of cult fashion provocateur Bruce Weber) and multi-instrumentalist, 31-year-old producer Pavao.

Theirs is a truly immersive full album experience, led by the inspired combination of siren-esque vocals and abstract storytelling, a soft focus and quietly stylish, yet confidently hyper-coloured aura that envelopes the band, the album and their listeners.
