it’s hard to believe that just several years ago these two guys were out wheatpasting posters just like every other street artist out there trying to get their work noticed…
fast forward to 2010 where they’ve really outdone themselves with this project. the detail is simply awe-striking/inspiring.
two very obvious questions that come to mind: how will they top themselves and/or where do they go from here? if there’s any indication in the jump from 2008′s LAZARIDES UK GALLERY show to this, then i can’t hardly wait to see what they do next.
this week’s road trip from colorado to chicago took me through omaha nebraska twice. its sense of american history is rich and plentiful as you drive and walk through its streets – especially the ones located in The Old Market – Omaha’s Art’s and Entertainment District. it’s a bit of a photographer’s paradise as you can see from the imagery i took above.
even though i’ve been through before, THE FAINT’S early musical background and inspiration kinda all clicked for me this time around…
also, here’s the Weekend Playlist from RCRDLBL that i’ve been getting acquainted with.
head over to NEET’S blog page for the streaming version of the new M.I.A. track “XXXO” – which i’m digging, but i also have a feeling that all the corporate radio hounds are salivating over being able to get this on their stations and into the ears of millions of tweens on the verge of teendom that’ll give whole new meaning to PAYOLA.
also be sure to check out the lyrics – they’re definitely worth a read. my fave: “cos your tweetin me like tweety bird on ya i phone”.
it’s good to be back after some much-needed (and methinks deserved) downtime.
i’ma warm up a bit (so i don’t pull anything) and just ease into this first post of OH-10 with some casual sightings, observances and general rambling.
first off – judging from the dancefloors over the holidays to lots of DJ propaganda that has been arriving in the ol’ inbox – looks like HOUSE (as in music) is set to make a comeback this year. here’s a nice little remix done by HOT CITY of DAN BLACK’S “SYMPHONIES” that captures that sound quite nicely.
also, looking forward to season 4 of SKINS. i’ve been addicted to this thing since the opening episode when tony and the old crew drew me in like a moth to the flame… the new season begins in a couple of weeks. check their site for listings.
and last, but certainly not least, i sure hope i can make it to this while out on a coinciding business trip. dudes are killing it with their next level painting styles.
PETE from fort collins is a traveling entertainer for NEW BELGIUM’S TOUR DE FAT – and also happens to be the proud new owner of “AMULET” that went up for sale friday night at THE GALLERY UNDERGROUND.
thanks again for supporting the local art scene yo.
another must do whilst in miami is to stay in a luxury hotel like the SOFITEL HOTEL MIAMI of course. it’s so effin french and so effin miami – all at the same time.
which coincidentally reminds me of a song i know by a great band called FRENCH MIAMI – i figured i’d post their track THE GOD DAMN BEST because it is just too, how shall i say… apropos?! oui.
i do appreciate the thought that was put into this in order to make it appeal to their target demographic, however, after giving it an “A” in the concept department, i’d have to follow it by a quick “D minus” in the overall execution. no pun intended.
ANGELIQUE, from CHARM SCHOOL, got this to us yesterday in order to make sure we spread the word about CARLOS’ opening at COREY HELFORD this coming saturday, august 15th.
if you live in or around fort collins, colorado be sure to come out and see some new work that i’ll be showing at THE GALLERY UNDERGROUND tomorrow night for FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK.
the gallery is only open on every first and third friday of each month as well as by appointment. first fridays come with the perk of free libations sponsored by none other than the hometown hero NEW BELGIUM BREWERY.
