i always felt that the song was seminally perfect to go in all different kinds of directions… now we get this accompanying video directed by Marcus Söderlund for the track – making it even more of future classic.
to summarize it in the words of a PITCHFORK writer, “a pretty young couple tenderly and carefully break into a room, smash it all to pieces, and then light a fire. Then they kiss. Romantic!

in keeping with one of my oh-10 resolutions to post up a bit more o’ the rap and hip-hop side of music – here we have mr. no hoe himself, D-LO, being remixed by the THE DOGG himself (as well as dropping some verse in place of the original track’s hook) and bringing back that old sound we used to call “gangsta rap”. it’s spreading like wildfire once again more than just from the Bay-to-LA.
a couple two three months ago (almost to the day), we posted the video for this amazing track by SMD that killed in ‘09… with a little help from their friend BETH, the lovely lovely from THE GOSSIP of course.
by the look and sound of it, it seems that the track isn’t quite ready to go away just yet.
still lovin’ her sounds in 2010. a newly posted track from a couple of days ago

DYME DEF – “DO SOMETHING”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

DYME DEF seem to be bringing a whole lotta “new” to the old-hat hip-hop table… take for instance their backbeat sounds that immediately tells you something’s different. a little more dark and gothy than most have ventured in that genre, plus it has a gritty ZEPPELIN feel to it as well … all the way through to the outro vocals at the end of the tune that is reminiscent of most darkwave clubs. it’s kind of like someone finally got tired of all that lame, pop-skewed, auto-tune showcasing and decided to leave it all behind as baggage for the last decade.
DYME DEF we don’t really know who you are (yet) or what you’re up to, but we definitely salute you for trying.
Totally Michael – Summertime from Scion A/V on Vimeo.
makes me wish i wasn’t sitting in the sub-zero freezing weather of the rockies.
and, is it just me or is that totally kathy griffin’s house that they’re using at the swimming party? maybe i’ve just watched more than my fair share of BRAVO in this lifetime. check for some other cameo appearances as well.
it’s good to be back after some much-needed (and methinks deserved) downtime.
i’ma warm up a bit (so i don’t pull anything) and just ease into this first post of OH-10 with some casual sightings, observances and general rambling.
first off – judging from the dancefloors over the holidays to lots of DJ propaganda that has been arriving in the ol’ inbox – looks like HOUSE (as in music) is set to make a comeback this year. here’s a nice little remix done by HOT CITY of DAN BLACK’S “SYMPHONIES” that captures that sound quite nicely.
also, looking forward to season 4 of SKINS. i’ve been addicted to this thing since the opening episode when tony and the old crew drew me in like a moth to the flame… the new season begins in a couple of weeks. check their site for listings.

and last, but certainly not least, i sure hope i can make it to this while out on a coinciding business trip. dudes are killing it with their next level painting styles.

until next time.
MR. RONSON will be headlining this years BECK’S MUSIC EXPORT NYE celebration in chicago.
